How to make jazz
"How to make jazz" is an educational program written by Ivan Slabý, Ivan Tomažič, Antonín Procházka and Kryštof Marek. It introduces jazz as a unique music genre based on the freedom of improvisation incorporated into various styles (from charleston, blues and swing up to Latin and modern jazz) and tells its about hundred year old history.
Kryštof Marek and his professional seven men Band reveal what makes the jazz "jazzy" (phrasing, syncopes, riffs, improvisation) and characterise each jazz style by its typical tune (St. Louis Blues, Sweet Georgia Brown, High Society, Cherokee, Sing, Sing, Sing…, St. Thomas, Scrapple from the Apple and others). As jazz was originally mainly dance music, the ballet dancers Petra Parvoničová and Petr Brettschneider, show what that was all about. The program which is designed mainly to young people is guided by a renown Czech actor Mr. Antonín Procházka.
